Let Freedom Ring....

Well since today is the 4th of July and it's all about freedom, we figured today would be the perfect day to announce our annual FREE Wedding Photography contest! As some of you may know every year we take a stock photo trip or two and we always so INSPIRED by the different surroundings we talk about how cool it would be to shoot a wedding in one of these great locations around the world! Being on this little group of islands is AWESOME, however these islands are small and after shooting here for quite some time we have pretty much covered every area of the island regularly requested for weddings. As every city has hot spots so do we and while we enjoy shooting in a familiar place, sometimes we just want something different- even if it is a different place in Hawaii! Hawaii has a lot of really cool urban areas- but you wouldn’t know it because no one dares to shoot there- most of the brides we encounter want the beach or a pretty park- understandably because it is beautiful! But we are looking for something not only attractive to the eye, but different and so to get it we are willing to give away free wedding coverage and not just in Hawaii but anywhere in the world!
Yep that is correct two free wedding photographers to cover your event anywhere in the world! So what is the catch you say?
INSPIRE US!!!!
Here is how to enter:
1. -Send us a recent color snapshot of the two of you via email
2. -Send us your love story, we are all about who, what, when, where, why and how- so please tell all the more we know the better your chances! Funny, Sad, Happy, just inspire us!
3. -Why you feel we should choose your wedding over others
4. -Tell us about your wedding plans: date, location, any other details associated with the event
5. -And of course your contact information: email, address, phone

Rules:
1. All entries must be submitted by email to
cassie@cassandradieterlephotography.com by Aug 30, 2008 , any entries received after midnight (12:00am) HST on Sep 1, 2008 will not be accepted.
Entries that are not complete will not be accepted (we must have all of the above info to accept the application)
2. Location and Date must already be set- winners subject to available dates only from January 1, 2009-Jan 1, 2010.
3. Winners cover the COST of travel and accommodations for time necessary to fully document the event (average3-4 days)- we do the rest.
Airplane tickets, a hotel and meals while working. That's it. We don’t need the red carpet treatment, simply get us there and a room where you are staying or nearby where you will be getting hitched and we are all set! Whatever extra time we stay (or if we come early) will be out of our own pocket!
4. Winners will be announced on October 1, 2008 and notified by phone and email.

Here is what is included in our free services:
1. As with all of our events winners will get a private online gallery and ordering site along with 4x6 printed proofs of their choice number determined by hours we shoot, Unlimited number of images shot by both Cassandra and David Dieterle, full resolution images on disk.
2. Here is what is different… time restrictions don’t apply in the same way they do for our other events! “In other words, we will be at your disposal for the rehearsal AND all the way through the wedding (times and dates for these will be discussed and finalized weeks prior to your event.) So if you want to do engagement, bridal, rehearsal, and wedding AND the day after the wedding, you'd like to go out and get some "extra" portraits (on the beach...under a waterfall...in a sea kayak...top of the Eiffel Tower) without having to worry about your dress, we are THERE!!!”
There are no strings attached--you won't be charged tax, forced to buy anything else if you don't want to, or anything like that. This is solely an opportunity for us to give a deserving couple something that we hope they will treasure. Feel free to send this entry to your deserving friends.

Val and Malu

7.03.2008

Val and Malu hold a special place in my heart! I photographed Val quite sometime ago before we ever planned on taking on weddings. She was beautiful then and as you can see nothing has changed! Always a great time with old friends! Can't wait till the big day!

Couldn't resist splashing!

Grace is Growing!

6.30.2008

So thought I would add a few updated photos of baby Grace... I can't believe how fast she is growing and changing! One day she finds her hands, then feet, and now she is babbling and rolling over! It's all moving so much faster than what I remember with Brooklyn. I have to remind myself to stop and enjoy it!

I love this photo of her looking at her hand! It's like pure amazement!

The P Family Reunited!!!

6.17.2008

Daddy's home!!! Something you may hear on a daily basis, but for this family and many many more, it's not heard often and we were lucky enough to capture that moment for one special family! Happy Days to come for sure!

Taylor and Jordan

6.11.2008

We had the honor of traveling back to our home state of Georgia to photograph an old friend and roomie of ours (from Hawaii Pacific University and Georgia Tech) who FINALLY decided to tie the knot!!! Taylor was stunning and Jordan was well...Jordan, always excited and happy to be doing what ever it is at the moment! But he was even more elated on this day and we all know why! The wedding and reception was held at the Chateau Elan, Georgia's only winery.

It just wouldn't be the same without him doing a back tuck!!! Some things never change!!!

Operation Love Reunited

5.02.2008

OpLOVE

David and I have been doing military appreciation days for about 5 years now; once a year with several families and we love being able to give back to those who sacrifice so much for all of us and our freedoms! So when we were invited to become a part of Operation Love Reunited we jumped at the opportunity! OpLove is a non profit organization that is made up of photographers around the country who give their time to our service members and their families who are deployed, being deployed or returning from deployment. Each service member is given up to a total of 2 sessions (one before, one when they return for example).

the "Y" family below you will notice is without daddy right now, lets all pray that he comes home safe...soon! Until then his little princess and boxer to be will have these photos (and more) sent to their daddy overseas so he can share these moments.

this is my favorite shot from the day...I love her princess slippers with daddy's boots
He looks like he's boxing, but he's actually learning to clap...he just hasn't figured out how to open his hand yet!

little girls just LOVE lipstick!

Tip of the month!

5.01.2008

As I prepare to begin shooting regularly again, I want to help brides rethink things a little. As always before the big day and on the big day I am open with my clients and do my best to help make their day run smoothly what ever it may be. From helping them figure out how to lace up the dress (after the 5th try by the bridesmaids and plenty of photos) to picking them up after they fall (dresses and shoes don't always make walking in the sand and rocks easy!). So I thought what better way than to give a tip every month for my brides to be... The first one is my outlook on weddings...and how I approach them and hope that my clients do too...it will make the day a little less stressful!

“Let it go and it will show!!! What does that mean? They say it’s the biggest day of your life, that’s enough to stress you out alone, not to mention the planning and money that goes into it all…You want everything to be perfect and when one little thing isn’t (that one hair won’t go where it’s supposed to) many brides will stress over it; however if you let it go it will show! Be yourself and have fun, don’t let the stresses of the day get to you, keep in mind that you have the best thing waiting for you at the end of the aisle and he or she loves you for you (hair out of place and all) and that LOVE is what you want to capture in your images- So Let it go and it will show-LOVE!”

Some of the best images happen when real emotions come out! If you are so caught up in everything being "perfect" you often loose those real moments because you are trying to stage everything.

Here are some real moments that had the bride/groom guest been worried about things not going perfect they would have lost the moment therefore the photo and the great memory that came along with it all!

The first one is a great example of turning something awful into something wonderful!
The power had gone out and along with it all the lights and music, but low and behold a GREAT groomsmen jumped up on the dance floor with his chair and began singing-a second or two later everyone joined in and it became a moment that I am sure the bride and groom and everyone there will never forget!!! The Power ironically came on right as he was ending his song and the rest of the night was full of electricity! And as angry as most bride would have been, the bride and groom were happy because the let it go!

This photo is the perfect example of Carpe Diam...rarely will you find an empty beach with crystal waters on a weekend in Hawaii but we did and with the power of suggestion our couple "R and C" who are total water babies jumped in and made this awesome shot possible! All because they were willing to let it go!

This is the perfect example of letting your guard down for the one you love!
I love this shot of the bride sneaking a little kiss! Many couples are not comfortable with "PDA" but this is your wedding day! That is what it's all about, showing others your LOVE for each other- so please you are surrounded by friends and family and those closest to you-which I wouldn't consider the "public" don't be afraid to show your affection- let it go!

So to all you brides and grooms to be- have fun, be romantic and don't be afraid to let your guard down a little on your wedding day! And when things aren't going exactly how you planned (which hopefully they do! but just in case) remember let it go and LOVE will show!

Happy Wedding Days!!!

Welcome baby Dakota!!!

4.27.2008

Our friend Lala finally had her 3rd beautiful baby. We were all guessing what the gender of baby would be. Since she had 2 boys already we were all hoping for a girl, and as you can see below our hopes became reality! It's A GIRL!!!!
Welcome baby Dakota Bella!!!

Lala made everyone promise not to yell out the gender, she wanted to "see" for herself! Her face shows her happienss and feeling of "it's a GIRL"!

I guess boys will be boys! (play fighting in the delivery room)

I love the look on her face even though she can't see her brothers, she looks as if she knows whats she's in for!

Brooklyn Balerina

Little ballerina, so she thinks! Brooklyn now loves ballet! Ever since the Nutcracker, she has wanted to be "the ballet girl on stage" She does pretty good considering she's never had a class, but she often puts a little groove and hula into the mix!

What a Ham!!

My time "off"

4.13.2008

Well as most of you know I am on maternity leave right now, but that will soon be coming to an end. I have been spending lots of time with little Grace working on the feeding and sleeping schedule. Grace is not to fond of the sleep thing and wants to be held constantly while awake, which makes it very hard to get anything done!
She is growing more by the day and starting to be more interactive with you, smiling and she has what is the begining of a laugh when she finds something funny; however it sounds more like she is choking or gasping for air!
Brooklyn is adapting well to being a big sister. She is very good with Grace and wants to help with everything "but the poopy diapers!"
The break has been nice but it's almost time to get back to my other love...PHOTOGRAPHY!
Some snapshots I have taken over the past few weeks, we of course will post more as they come along!

Yes? Grace is a very alert baby!

This is the pick me up look!

Easter with the girls

We had a field trip with Brookes school- she got to fly her fist kite and they had a fun little egg hunt for the kids.

then once we came home we had Easter Egg Dying...Brooke as always, loves to color and RE color the eggs so it always takes a while to do them all. Grace was not sure what to make of it all- however she was very impressed at her big sisters sillyness!

I love Grace's face looking at Brooke!

Easter Day- she looked like a princess

A SMILE!!! Grace smiles a lot for a little one, but it seems when I am ready to take photos she isn't!

Announcing...GRACE

3.13.2008

Well we all waited and waited and waited and finally... may we present... Gracelyn Olina Dieterle! She weighed 7.04lbs and was 19 inches long. She currently has blue eyes and very blond hair, but as we all know that can change! We are all doing well, Brooklyn is being a great big sister to Grace, giving her lots of kisses and hugs when mommy and daddy allow :) those of you with more than one I am sure you understand this part! IF it were up to Brooke she would be carrying her around in her baby doll carriage and carriers and eating plastic bottles and "air food" (that's the pretend food we eat when Brooke cooks us dinner!)

All is well...
